Shirley Ellis is a dedicated leader and visionary in the world of finance. With over 9 years of invaluable experience at Discover Financial Services, Shirley has held many titles, including leading the frontline collections department for over 5 years by delivering tailored solutions to increase financial literacy.  Currently, Shirley is a Project Manager for Discover Student Loans where she focuses on process optimization, risk mitigation and elevating the customer experience.  Her journey at Discover has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, consistently delivering results and exceeding expectations. 

Shirley Ellis is a motivational speaker focused on women’s empowerment. She’s actively engaged in initiatives like the Columbus Urban League’s Professional and Personal Development Committee, where she fosters networking skills among young professionals. As a mentor in the Columbus Young Professionals Elevate and Excel Program, Shirley is passionate about inspiring others to dream big, embrace resilience, and achieve success on their terms. Her dedication to helping individuals thrive both professionally and personally makes her a powerful advocate for empowerment and growth. She co-leads the events committee for an employee resource group at Discover card called PWIR. In this role, Shirley organizes and creates developmental and community engagement events, empowering women with a sense of belonging and equipping them with the tools to accelerate in their careers.

Whether through mentorship, coaching, or leading by example, Shirley equips those around her with knowledge and tools to overcome obstacles, seize opportunities, and reach their full potential. Her infectious enthusiasm and unwavering optimism serve as beacons of inspiration for all who have the privilege of working alongside her.
